Needing Rest

Well, I may have been wrong about side effects...

I've struggled to go to sleep the past two nights.  For a few weeks, I had been taking Ambien to help me sleep.  I haven't taken any to help me rest since last week. (There's no way that I would risk messing up this cycle!) I could not go to sleep last night and the evening before.  Maybe I am sleeping, but I don't feel rested.  I toss and turn, burn up with hot flashes, and just feel miserable.  Also, I'm starting to notice a recurring headache.  I'm hoping that it's just stress.  My mind has trouble shutting down each night and I'm left with all of these thoughts.  I know that God is in control of our situation, but it's hard to "let it go."

Praying that I can fully trust God and His timing.  And that I can rest.

  1. In peace I will both lie down and sleep,
For You alone, O Lord, make me to dwell in safety.
    Psalms 4:8

Think on this scripture drifting off to sound sleep.

  2. I would love to make a suggestion. There is a ivf meditation cd I am currently using and it about puts me sleep everyday. Also helps me relax and my stress melts away. It is called A Journey of the Heart by Jennifer R. Bloom. I know you are doing FET but I think they all do the same thing.

    You are doing great!

  3. Praying you get some sleep soon. Talk to your doctor though because lack of sleep can be devastating to a cycle as well. Your body needs rest to do what it needs to do.

I had trouble sleeping about a month ago (I was only getting 3-4 hours a night every night for weeks). My doctor told me to take tylenol PM. It's safe in pregnancy and did the trick. I imagine if it's safe in pregnancy, it's safe for you to take now but talk to your doctor.

Praying for you as you move forward. So exciting! :)

  4. I can make you a sleepy time mix CD? H falls asleep to the same music every night and at naps. <3 this could also be God preparing you for the sleepless nights to come?

  5. I think sleeplessness, ironically, is a side effect of halting any sleep medication. My hubby takes Tylenol PM once in a while and pays for it the next night when he doesn't take it. Praying for you that you are able to get a good night's rest tonight and that it continues and you won't need the ambien anymore. : )

Ooh - one more thought: Have you ever tried listening to guided imagery? I listened to it almost every night on my iPod as I was waiting for sleep to come during my first IVF cycle. It's very relaxing. My only complaint is that I wish I could find one that is more faith-based.
